Kettlebell sport was proudly represented at the TAFISA European Sport for All Games, which took place across Limerick last weekend – August 6th to 11th 2026, with WKSF (World Kettlebell Sport Federation) playing an active role in showcasing the sport and helping introduce it to a wider audience.
As a TAFISA member, WKSF was delighted to be part of an event that celebrated participation, inclusion and the diversity of sporting traditions from across Europe and beyond. The Games brought together 26 countries and showcased 50 traditional sports and games in locations throughout the city.
Organised by Limerick Sports Partnership, the European Sport for All Games offered a programme of free activities, giving people of all ages the opportunity to watch, explore and, most importantly, get involved in a wide variety of sporting activities.
The event captured the true spirit of Sport for All by bringing sport out into the streets, parks and public spaces, making activities accessible for people to see and experience for themselves. Kettlebell sport was a great fit for this approach, allowing participants to get hands on experience and discover a sport that combines strength, endurance, technique and skill.
Representing WKSF were Irish representatives Alan Hudson and Laura Mullen, who were on hand to showcase kettlebell sport, answer questions and encourage people to give it a try.
It was particularly encouraging to see both young and old eager to pick up a kettlebell and have a go. The enthusiasm of younger participants was especially impressive, with a strong level of existing knowledge and recognition of kettlebells among the youth who took part. This demonstrated the growing awareness of kettlebell training and its potential to engage new generations in sport and physical activity.
For WKSF, participation in the TAFISA European Sport for All Games was an excellent opportunity to inform, introduce and grow kettlebell sport, while connecting with people who may not otherwise have encountered competitive kettlebell sport.
The Games demonstrated that sport can be for everyone, everywhere. By taking kettlebell sport into the heart of the community and giving people the opportunity to experience it first-hand, WKSF continues to promote the sport and build awareness of kettlebell sport at both grassroots and international level.
